Machadi laundon house nikal gaya!!!
"YAAR kya kapde pehnta hain, house nikalna hain ki nahin, kuch formals pehanle tuje pata hain t shirt nahin chalta hain aur shave kab karega, tu sudrega nahin!!!" retorted talli(uday) with a look of despair, in two days we had the elections in nilgiri and i was contesting for the prestigious post of "house secretary" , hostel elections at iit delhi are a matter of gr8 pride and groups take this fact very seriously to an extent of screwing up their acads for the sake of their group a sense of belonging to a particular group, unitedness,"they are my people" sort of feelings dominate over every other feeling atleast for that one week of poltu(politics in short). our group in short was a mini india we had ppl frm different walks of life different regions of the country, different shapes and sizes, i always thought in the first place wen did we start as a group? wo kehte hain naa "har aadmi main ek sher ho tha hain , sirf ungli karne vaala chahiye aur yehi kuch ho gaya tha hum se bhi fist yr ke end main, and thus the group started with the deciding of the hostel representatives, and i was the last person to have been part of any group in the hostel but somehow got sucked in to become a part of a group, in mi opinion ppl who keep on harping on the fact that they are neutral are the biggest fraudsters of all time as they act neutral and are not in reeality and u get to see these sort of ppl havin agala time during the elections time now lets come back to the day (two days before the "D" day) we were a peculiar group and these were peculiar times as we didnt had any senior backing us (as they usually do the "baap" types) so the responsibilty was entirely on us to chalk out strategies, strike deals and lots more and in this election there was not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 ppl in fray for the house secy post and this meant that we had to be on our toes and our cards close to our chest and we were not even a rich group and we couldnt afford to treat ppl with pizzas as was the case with others so this meant a very close call and a keenly contested election, on a personal front jus 2 days before the election i felt very happy seeing each and every person of our corridor slogging it out for the grp i had made up mi mind even if we lose the election it didnt mattered to me anymore as nothing more was heartening then the sight of all junta of the corridor slogging it out collectively, that nite we had nws that 2 of the other 3 grps had struck a deal for the 2nd votes of one and another ( when 4 in fray, the funda of 2nd voting comes in where each voter has other than the first vote 2nd and 3rd preferances to fill in) although there were 2 large and main groups in the entire hostel and we were one of them but the other two could spoil the party for either of us by striking deals so the nws of the deal left us shocked, now wat next? was this the end of the road for us noway!! after sometime we regrouped and checked our numbers whether we could still make it and the situation appeared grim we had every kinda of ppl who pitched in with their advice gaurav the spine of our group who speaks his heart and always thinks with his heart and not with his mind, jp(bihari babu) "rajnithi tho hamare rag rag main hain", chandu up ka goonda hehehe, vikram dhayal man frm haryana, the enviable couple (rajnish and vikranth), jaju, rohatgi suman our mathematician who looked into our numbers and we also had the huge "M" factor (maddu mtechs hehe) allwe could do was fight and fight hard, the day arrived all of us had not slept for 3 days but were still trying to garner some last min votes now to help u understand the election let me tell the contestants "P" was the other large grp "U" the pg student and finally "R" the spoiler who couldnt win but was there to spoil the party for others it was a tradition to stand at the entrance of the voting room with a smiling face to remind the voters of ur name, 5-7 was the scheduled time for the election the first voters came in and went didnt know who they voted for in due course of time crowd started to fill and with it brought the tension and butterflies in the stomach the clock struck 7 and the gates closed now it was all over!!! the counting had to start now the tension started to build every one sitting in their respective groups in the lawns had tension written all over them round 1 ended and the scores read 1ST was "P" with 105 votes, 2nd "I" with 101 votes and 3rd "U" with 98 votes and 4th was "R" with 56 votes now again we were out with our numbers to check how it would swing, second round started in which r was eliminated and his 56 votes wre to be distributed to all 3 depending on the 2nd votes and now the 2nd round concluded the scores read ist U with 123 votes and I 2ND with 120 votes, P was 3rd with 116 votes, at this juncture p was to be eliminated and his 2nd votes to be added to U and I, now it was to too close a contest till now to predict anything trying to release some tension i went upstairs to mi room and after sometime heard loud cries mi heart skipped a beat we had lost as there were not many of our ppl that near to the voting room the cries were of the opposite grp members i started to come down with aheavy heart not believing the fact that we had lost, suddenly " samratttttttttt " shouted someone now wat happened did afight broke out? saw someone running towards me " samrat machadi yaar house nikal gaya" hugging me shouted gaurav!!! i coudnt believe miself!! we had won !! hurray we had won!!! now all were dancing coulnt stopmiself after all it was our victory not any single individuals but it was the whole group's victory, the scenes out on roads and lawns of nilgiri with ppl shouting dancing cant be described in words alone its a once in lifetime experiance !! the scores read "I" was first with 223 votes and "U" was 2nd with 136 votes and it was landslide victory !!! kudos to all the members of the group keep rocking guys........
